It is our aim at Solas to showcase the wide range of artistry that is available in Mayo and to support the local craft workers and artists with their goods for sale in the shop. This means we can share the talent of ‘Made in Mayo’ with both the local community and the tourists who visit the area throughout the year.
Solas means light. It is the light of the rising sun over the hills and Croagh Patrick in the east in the morning, and setting over the waves and Clare Island in the west at night. The quality of the light is the attraction for many artists to this part of Ireland. This is why Mayo has been such an excellent source for the collection of unique and imaginative arts and crafts that you can see for sale.
The aim of the local owners, Susan Steward and Dolly Temple is to exclusively showcase and support the extraordinary creative talent that lies within the County of Mayo in the west of Ireland.
Solas is situated on the main street in the heart of Louisburgh, on the Wild Atlantic Way. Look out for our stunning blue and red fascia and Solas signs. Free on street parking is available and it is also free to park in the nearby riverside car park.
Young or old, there will be something to interest you at this shop of artisan art and crafts.
The shop is wheelchair accessible. However the Upstairs Gallery is not.
